Crawford, Murphy & Tilly, Inc. (CMT) is looking for a motivated, experienced candidate to excel in the role of Environmental Scientist as part of a team of high performing environmental professionals.. Responsibilities of the position include technical project development and delivery and coordinating with multi-discipline project teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills required. The candidate will also possess a strong team approach, flexibility to adjust as project and workload demands change, and a willingness to collaborate while having the ability to work independently in various work environments.

While the position will report to the Highways & Bridges business unit, project assignments are anticipated to also include those within the Aviation, Water Resources and Civil and Site Services business units.  Position location can be Springboro, OH, Columbus, OH or Cleveland, OH based on the selected candidates background, and CMT's need.  The diverse work assignments offer the opportunity for personal growth.

Minimum position requirements:

  • B.S. degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Geology, Chemistry or related discipline
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience conducting environmental studies
  • Computer Skills: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products and ESRI ArcGIS

Preferred Skills and Training:

  • M.S. degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Geology, Chemistry or related discipline
  • Training and/or experience in at least one of the following environmental sub-discipline areas:
    • Ecology (wetland and stream determination, ecological restoration, 404/401 permitting, plant systematics, endangered species impact assessment or surveys, wildlife hazard assessments)
    • Environmental Compliance/Audit (Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure Plans, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans, Facility Audit, UST compliance
    • Environmental Assessment/Remediation (Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessment, soil and groundwater remediation, assessments under Brownfields or state voluntary cleanup programs)
    • NEPA Documentation
  • Participation in professional organizations for continuous improvement of technical skills with interest to pursue leadership roles
